One of Bulgaria's best-kept secrets, the historic town of Bansko is situated in the Southwest of the country in the foothills of the beautiful Mount Pirin. The mountain's twin peaks soar to over 2900 m and its breathtaking alpine beauty combined with the area's history has resulted in its adoption as a World Heritage site.

Bansko's re-emergence as Bulgaria's newest international ski resort owes much to its good snow record and excellent ski runs, catering for skiers of all standards, from beginners to experts, in a season that lasts from mid December to mid April. The many cultural monuments and museums of the town add a historic ambience, which blends perfectly with the facilities of a modern ski resort. The local ski school is excellent and ski rentals and 24-hour emergency services are readily available.

Apres ski in the taverns and restaurants of the Old Town offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine (all use local ingredients) and culture. Live music, a disco and nightclubs are all part of the local scene. Being a newly redeveloped resort prices are substantially lower than in Bulgaria's more fashionable resorts of Borovets and Pamporovo.
